A bitterly cold northerly force 4 greeted the competitors at Draycote water for the inaugural BOSS meeting of 2000.

Racing commenced promptly on Saturday 16 February with the first of 3 races.The first race began with a fine display by Mike Reynold and Sledge, taking the lead from the start. They extended their lead until a costly capsize downwind allowed CREWSAVER, sailed by Jerry Ibberson and Ian Hepplethwaite to pass. CREWSAVER also capsized at the leeward mark, but retained the lead, taking race 1. Reynold and Sledge won races 2 and 3, showing there winter practice had been very worthwhile. CREWSAVER finished second with Owen and Spud in third.

Races on Sunday were sailed in glorious sunshine. The wind had abated to a - 4 and resulted in some very close racing in the very shifty breeze. CREWSAVER took firsts in races 3 and 4 with Peter Bennett and John Shelton second and Reynold and Sledge 3rd. The final race was affected by a large left hand shift creating a virtual drag race won by Bennett and Shelton, followed by Reynold and Sledge, and CREWSAVER 3rd.
